One of the primary goals of the foundation has always been to help Utah Speech and Theater Arts students with their secondary education. A scholarship honoring the legacy of GMC was first discussed 34 years ago, and on August 8th, 2025, we finally delivered on that dream.
We want to congratulate Julianne Furgeson of Stansbury, Utah, on being the first recipient of the Gene C. McCombs Memorial Scholarship.
Julianne is a generational talent who put on a One-Woman show to act as a fundraiser for her college expenses, and we were there to surprise her with the scholarship.

The One Thousand-dollar scholarship can be used for any educational expenses, from books to tuition to living expenses on campus. Applications for the 2026 scholarship open up in mid-August 2025.
GMC instilled a passion for the arts in his students and made sure it was accessible to anyone who wanted to participate. Through our scholarships, we hope to feed that passion and reward those who choose to participate.
